Mithril: Day 4

Date: 10.02.2018

Goals

  • Continue/Start Brainstorming

  • Final Decision on team name

  • Send out round 2 google form

  • Decide what needs to be ordered

What Happened:

  • We did a lot of brainstorming and came up with some cool ideas.

  • Arm is on a turning “platform” like a tank has

  • Divided track that sorts minerals by color onto an arm.

  • Spinning wheels to suck in the minerals.

  • Raised robot base so we can get over the minerals on the floor.

  • Use a color sensor hooked to a small servo that flicks down an arm.

  • Decided on the name “Mithril” for our 8190 team.

What Didn’t Happen:

  • We only had two team member here today so we didn’t get any input from the other team members about their ideas.

  • We still have a few options for the method to

Summary

Overall, it was a successful meeting, we got a lot of ideas and we decided on the best way to collect the minerals. We have a good baseline and we have a general idea of what we want the robot to look like and how we think it should function. Hopefully, next meeting more members will be there to get a good idea of there ideas. If we have some good discussions tomorrow, we may begin building the drivetrain. We have a lot of complex ways to do the tasks so we may split up our building team into sections and a few people work on driveebase while the other works on arm/spiral scoop and so on.

Next Time

  • Get more members opinions.

  • Decide on the way to put the minerals into the rover.

  • Add color sensors to the list of parts to buy

  • Talk about splitting up robot into sections and dividing the building process.
